The worlds first cork factory opened around 1750 in Anquine, Spain. Once a cork tree is harvested, after being sorted, boiled, punched, sliced, polished, wash, dried, finished and wax coated, the whole process will have taken a year to produce the final product. They are harvested from a Cork Oak tree and cost from 10 cents each to some that may go for a dollar or more.
