2017 Ensedune Petit Verdot
Posted On February 19, 2022
The Petit Verdot grape usually doesn’t roll off a wine lovers tongue. They are also not the most sought after bottles in the wine world. Believe me, they should be. Loaded with everything black on the berry front: jammy black cherry, black raspberry and black currants up front, with deep violets, black licorice, clove, cinnamon and a solid exotic spice on the mid palate. It finishes with silky tannins that make you beg for another sip. Grown in the deep south of France, it’s as solid as any Zinfandel, Syrah and Petite Sirah that garner more press and fanfare. Usually considered a Bordeaux blending varietal, they are rich, hearty and well worth the effort to seek and enjoy.
